Specialist wine importer, Hallgarten & Novum Wines, has added iconic Northern Rhône producer Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aîné to its French portfolio, available exclusively to the UK hospitality and retail sectors ahead of its Autumn Portfolio Tastings in September.
Beverly Tabbron MW, French Wine Buyer at Hallgarten Wines commented: “The Rhône is a region that has long been a part of our history at Hallgarten Wines; it was the backbone of our portfolio when the company was incorporated in 1933 and Rhône specialist, Peter Hallgarten, even wrote a book on the subject in the 1970s! As we look to expand our portfolio for the future, across all areas of the winemaking world, we have focused on the Rhône and are extremely excited to welcome another prestigious producer to our range.
“From Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aîné, we are welcoming some truly iconic wines to our portfolio including Domaine de Thalabert, from the oldest vineyard in Crozes-Hermitage appellation, and the Parallèle 45 Côtes du Rhône, Blanc and Rouge, the oldest brand of Côtes-du-Rhône.”
The addition of Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aîné to the Hallgarten Wines portfolio is part of the business’s expansion plans in 2024, as it looks to develop its premium wine offering to the trade and grow its teams in all parts of the business.
Domaines Paul Jaboulet Aîné was founded in 1834 and cultivates the iconic terroirs from the northern Rhône Valley across seven appellations. Family owned by the Frey family since 2006, talented winemaker Caroline Frey and her team implement heroic viticulture techniques on the unique, heritage landscapes. Following a long tradition in preserving and working the land, the Frey family are pioneers in biodiversity, with a nine-hectare wildlife reserve and ecosystem preservation efforts.
Since 2016, the vineyards have been certified AB organic and since 2021 the entire vineyard has been cultivated biodynamically and with a regenerative approach. The variety of soils and multitude of terroirs shape the distinctive character of their wines. Caroline is dedicated to crafting exceptional
wines following a philosophy that when the grape varieties are in perfect harmony with the terroir, they reveal their finest expression. These are exquisite wines which beautifully reflect the nuances of their origins.
